The Bowen Technique or Bowen Therapy, as it is commonly known originates from Australia and is a form of soft tissue manipulation. It is a treatment that consists of sets of challenge like moves on muscle, nerves and tendons followed by short pauses to allow the area worked on to respond. The procedures are performed in series according to the presenting complaints. Bowen Therapy can be used as a full-body therapy to address systemic issues or can be a treatment for specific areas of concern where it can be integrated with any form of bodywork.

Class Format

The class is a hands on workshop where each student is supervised and given the time to fully understand the finer points of each step of the lesson according to their own learning process. All procedures are presented with overhead projection, then explanation and discussion followed first by demonstration and finally the students get time to practice and apply each leasson on one another.

Review

The lessons from previous modules are reviewed at each successive module and wherever possible actual patients are bought to the class for the purposes of understanding patient management.
